Ihr findet, dass Indie-Spiele bei den The Game Awards von Geoff Keighley zu kurz kommen? Das Produktionsteam von Six One Indie schafft hier Abhilfe, denn in Kooperation mit IGN wird man am 19. Dezember die Debütausgabe der The Indie Game Awards veranstalten. Wie bei anderen Preisverleihungen möchte man besondere Errungenschaften ehren, nimmt dabei aber gezielt den Indie-Sektor ins Visier.
Von Beginn an gibt es eine breite Auswahl an Awards, darunter die üblichen Verdächtigen wie Gameplay, Musik oder visuelle Gestaltung, aber auch auf Indie-Spiele zugeschnittene Kategorien wie „Bite-sized Games“, „Solo Development“ und „Debut Game“.
